ABOUT

About The Tacoma Highlanders

The Tacoma Highlanders are a group of kilted athletes in the South Puget Sound area. We train and compete in the historic Scottish Highland Games. We have a yearly competition, Mo-Throw, to fundraise for the Movember foundation.

The Tacoma Highlanders is a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to sharing the history and skill of the Scottish Highland Games. Feel free to come join us for an open group practice or set up a one-on-one training session, all proceeds go towards the operation of our charity, training gear, insurance, and the events we host.

Bret Garrett

PERSONAL TRAINER

Bret has been a Scottish thrower for nearly five years. He started after practicing with a group of friends in Arizona and fell in love with the sport and the people. Bret started in the novice division and worked his way up to A class, the top amatuer division before the Pro division. His training involves olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and yoga.

Nigel Anselmi

PERSONAL TRAINER

"I have always loved staying active and threw shotput and discus in high school and college. After college I was looking for a good way to stay active and still compete. I stumbled into the highland games by accident and found my home as lightweight competitor. Above and beyond all else in the games, I love the community of throwers and support that we have! The Tacoma Highlanders practices have become a highlight of my week!"
